Tips for Keeping the Weight Off

What better source of tactics for keeping off the pounds exists than statistically backed, tried-and-true tips from formerly overweight individuals? The National Weight Control Registry tracks thousands of people who have lost a significant amount of weight (> 30 lbs) and maintained that weight loss for a minimum of one year.
According to the database, there are several trends that help individuals maintain their weight loss.
  • 78% of successful weight losers eat breakfast every day
  • 75% weigh themselves at least once a week
  • 62% watch less than 10 hours of TV per week
  • 90% exercise approximately 1 hr per day

The conclusions we can draw from this are fairly transparent: eat breakfast every day, step on the scale regularly and intervene if the numbers start to rise against your will, limit exposure to TV, and keep exercise a constant in your life even after you’ve achieved your weight loss goal.  And even if you aren’t looking to lose weight, these tips are excellent in terms of helping you maintain a healthy lifestyle!
